Self-Design with Scandinavian, minimalist and industrial design
Located in Bandar Seri Coalfields, a young couple took the effort to design and decorate their house without hiring Interior Designer for their 1st house. Knowing what they wanted in mind with a budget of RM80,000 (Renovation cost & Furnitures) they went the extra mile of hiring JJ House De Construction & Renovation for their labor service only with procurement and designing by the couple. "We are discussing day & night and yay this is our final outlook. We want something Scandinavian, clear, minimalist and industrial design"
  • Property Location: Bandar Seri Coalfields, Sungai Buloh
  • Property Size: 24 x 75
  • Property Type: Double Storey Terrace House
  • Cost: RM80,000 Including Furnitures
Their goal was to have a “Scandinavian, minimalist industrial design with senses”. The kitchen, an island was a new addition with cement finish coupled with bricks wall on the other end adding to the touch of industrial.

Choosing the right paint color for your walls or deciding on an entire color scheme not an easy task, you have to consider the "mood" of the room.

The dining area is located beside the kitchen furnished with wooden dining table and chairs. Adjourning to the dining area is the living room. The area is furnished with essential furniture to achieve the minimalist looks. Adding blocks of wooden stool finishes the Industrial interior.

Very practical DIY solutions to some common challenges in backyard decorating.

- Bed

Obviously your kids need a bed. Depending on the storage space you have you can choose a bed with storage or without. If you have more than one kid and the space aren’t enough you can opt for bunk beds too. They use lesser space and also add to the fun. Remember, your kid might be small right now but buying a bed every year as the child grows is not the best option. Look for a medium size bed from the very start.

- Study table and chair

A kids room is incomplete without a proper study table and chair. This needs to be appropriate for the child’s height and have enough space for the many books, stationery items and other essential things.

Tips for Planning Your New Kitchen

To most of us, a kitchen is the most central centre of a home. It is therefore important to get it designed right. Designing your kitchen is both exciting and costly at the same time. However, it can add value to your home if done properly. When planning your new kitchen, you need to answer these questions. What are the things that you need hidden or shown? For how long are you planning to stay?

The following are tips to put in consideration when planning for your new kitchen.

1. Design and shape

Start by determining your preferred design and its functional features that needs to be included. Most kitchens commonly used are one with island bench, U shaped or L shaped. Make sure to use the rule of the working triangle which describes some 3 key points such as the stove, the sink and the fridge. You can get the required help online by printing some of the appealing kitchen design that you like or use magazines or newspapers which showcases kitchen designs in Malaysia.

3. Counter tops and cabinets

Counter tops area mainly placed on top of the kitchen cabinets. Concrete tops were commonly used in the past owing to their durability but nowadays granite counters are the best since they transform your kitchen into a luxurious feel and look. You can get the granite from local vendors or use the man made granite tops which is also known as solid surface, and are cheaper and readily available.

5. Safety

Most home owners with small kids would prefer to have round edges for their kitchen cabinets especially where the child or infants are frequenting. It reduces the risk of injuries arising from sharp cabinet edges.

The above tips should be considered if you want to have a top notch kitchen which you can use for a very long time without thinking of further renovation.
